Nashville Skyline
This is a five frame HDR image of the Nashville Skyline. I really like being in Nashville - it doesn't take too much of a reason to get me there. Hanging out on this bridge, watching the sun go down and the city lights come on was a memorable experience.

Bald Head Lighthouse
This is an HDR image of the Bald Head Lighthouse taken over a 30 minute period at sunset. I love the way that all of the plant life in the creek basin absorbed all of the warm glow of the setting sun.

Beach Walk
This shot was taken at Sunset Beach, NC. The access to the beach in many places is over protected dune areas. These walkways are common on the south side of the island where the beach road is further away from the shore. I like how this walkway apperars to go nowhere.

Haystack Rock
This image was image was made just south of Cannon Beach, Oregon. These rocks are known as the "Haystack Rocks" and are photographed a lot. The evening I shot this image, there were at least another dozen photographers out there with me. I wish I had thought to get a picture of all of the tripods on the shoreline.

Slow, No Wake
During a severe drought event in Greensboro, NC, Lake Higgins completely dried up. It was interesting walk on the to dry lakebed, seeing all that was revealed by the lack of water. It was strange to realize that normally the boats would have been ten feet above me.

Duggers Creek Falls
Duggers Falls is in the Linville Wilderness area. You can actually see this waterfall from the road near the entrance to the Linville Gorge Visitor Center parking lot. I had to get in the water (cold!) to get this shot. I think this waterfall is much more photogenic than the Linville Falls but almost no one even knows it is there.

Linville Falls Plunge Basin
Linville Falls is an amazing sight. This is the largest waterfall (volume) in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The water drops 45 feet into the plunge basin. The hike into the basin is a little less than a mile but is steep and tough going in places.

Linville Falls Pool
This is an HDR image of a protected pool of water near the plunge basin. The gorge near the falls is walled by steep cliffs of granite. A lot of debris, especially trees and racks fall down into the gorge creating terrain that can be difficult to traverse.

Cypress Trees
This is a common sight in Eastern North Carolina. There are many swamp areas near the coast and it is common to see a grove of these cypress trees near the road. This is an HDR image.

Ecola State Park
This image was made at Ecola State Park in Oregon. I waited at this location all afternoon for the light to be perfect. The town barely visible on the right side of the frame is Cannon Beach.

Georgia Woods
This image was made near Lake Burton, GA. Lake Burton sits in the Northeast corner of Georgia just below the NC border. It's a great, isolated mountain lake. The woods around the lake are thick with this type of viney tree.

Newman Machine
This is an HDR Image made in the Newman Machine Company building before it was torn down. This was part of a huge complex of buildings that sat empty for a few years before it was torn down to make way for an apartment complex.

Old Barn
This barn was located between Greensboro and Burlington, NC on highway 70. I've driven by this barn from time to time during the last 20 years or so and have always thought to stop and get an image. On one such day, the light was perfect so I stopped. This HDR image is the result. Good thing I stopped too - the next time I passed that way, it was gone!

Front Porch, Eastern North Carolina
I saw this scene as I was driving somewhere in Eastern, NC. I don't remember where it was now, but this scene takes me back in time to the rural south of long ago.

Ferris Wheel
I made this image while riding the ferris wheel with my daughter at the North Carolina State Fair. I got lucky that the ride stopped at the top long enough for the chair to stop moving and was able to get this long exposure sharp by bracing against the safety rail. I'm still amazed by the sharpness and the depth of field I was able to get.
