This image was made in Old Salem in Winston-Salem, NC. I didn't even notice the reflection in the glass when I made this photo. It looks as if it could be one of the many ghosts that are said to inhabit this old village which dates back to 1766.

Another Old Salem Building

This old barn sits somewhere south of Kinston, NC. I don't remember exactly where...

I find this image interesting becuse of the missing glass. You can see through one side of the window but the reflections block sight through the other side.

The patina on this wood is a wonderful contrast to the dark interior of this house.

At one time, this must have been a very bright, colorful entryway. But now, the faded paint gives this a the feel of a pastel painting.

This image was made at an old roadside motel in Rockingham County, NC. The motel had been abandoned long ago and was in very poor condition. A testament to an era gone by. Each room incuded a garage for your car. I shot a lot of images around the property but Room 23 seemed to be the most photogenic.

This log cabin is part of the Tannenbaum Historic Park in Greensboro, NC. I like the contrast of the geometric window with the rough hewn wood and plaster walls.

This is a color version of the Madison Grocery Building. Reminds me of an edward Hopper painting for some reason.

I made this image in the tobacco building district in Durham, NC. At some point, this doorway was no longer needed and was walled in. Interestingly, I passed by there recently and the door had been put back and was being used as an entry way to an office. I'm sure I will be accused of some Photoshop trickery but this really is how the door looked a few years ago.

This was taken in the older, warehouse portion of downtown Winston-Salem.

The iron bars on this window are very strong. I'm sure that it took a great deal of effort to bend these bars. I can only imagine that someone used a vehicle to try and pull these off the wall.

I love the way this red door seems to float on this wall.

This sidewalk has certainly seen better days. 

This structure is in Rockingham County, north of Greensboro off of Hwy 220. These colors are exactly as I saw it. No Photoshop trickery here...

Charleston, SC is a very photogenic city. It is easy to get perfect postcard images almost everywhere you look. Not my thing. I like the less obvious details. This is the old side entrance to a very elegant house in downtown Charleston. It looks as if the doors have been sealed shut
